No more pacifiers – day 1

Posted by: DJ on: August 11, 2008

Yesterday we decided that Luke was old enough that he probably didn’t need a pacifier anymore. His use of them was already cut down to sleeping times. We decided to go ahead and get rid of them.

Last night before bath time we had then all spread out on the floor in his room. We had him pick them all up and put them into a box. Then he took the box to the garbage and one by one tossed them in the garbage.

When it was finally bed time he seemed like he was going to be okay. He went past the point where he’d usually get it and he did not complain. He finally complained about it right as we thought he wasn’t even going to notice. “Pass” he said right as he was being laid down for the night. He cried for a few seconds – by the time we got out to the living room and sat down to watch more Olympics – he was done and on his way to dreamland!

I just got news from home today that his nap time was a full success – not a single complaint about the missing pacifier. So Luke has also decided that he doesn’t need to sit in his high-chair anymore now that the pacifiers are gone. He loved sitting in a booster chair right up at the table. He has really taken the whole “You’re a big boy now” thing and is starting to use it to his advantage already. I suppose he will want his own cell phone and car keys next month….
